WHAT IS BASKET STRAINER?

A Basket Strainer is a mechanical device used to remove unwanted solid particles from a liquid or gas using a perforated or wire-mesh basket. The fluid enters the strainer, passes through the basket, and clean fluid exits, while the solid particles are trapped inside the basket.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a basket strainer used for?
Basket strainers remove solid particles from liquids, gases, or steam flowing through pipelines. They protect pumps, valves, meters, heat exchangers, and other equipment from damage caused by debris.
How does a basket strainer work?
The process fluid enters the strainer housing and passes through a perforated or mesh basket. Solid contaminants are trapped inside the basket while the clean fluid continues through the outlet.
What is the difference between a basket strainer and a Y strainer?
Basket strainers provide a larger filtration area and higher dirt-holding capacity, making them suitable for high-flow applications. Y strainers are more compact and commonly used where space is limited.
Which mesh size should I use?
The ideal mesh size depends on the particle size you need to remove and your process requirements. Our engineers can help you select the right mesh for your application.
How do I clean a basket strainer?
Shut down the system, release pressure, remove the cover, take out the basket, clean it with water or compressed air, inspect it, and reinstall it before restarting the system.
What materials are available?
Basket strainers are available in cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel (SS304, SS316, SS316L), duplex stainless steel, and other special alloys depending on your application.
What is the pressure rating range?
Our basket strainers are available in pressure ratings such as PN10, PN16, ANSI 150, ANSI 300, ANSI 600, and higher ratings upon request.
Can you manufacture custom basket strainers?
Yes. We manufacture custom basket strainers according to your flow rate, pressure, temperature, material, flange standard, mesh size, and industry requirements.
What is the lead time?
Standard models are generally available within a few days, while custom-manufactured basket strainers typically require 2–4 weeks depending on specifications.
Do you provide installation support?
Yes. Our technical team provides installation guidance, operation instructions, maintenance recommendations, and after-sales support to ensure reliable performance.
